Not Sure if Uguu or Just Plain Smashing

So if it’s alright, allow me to provide some backstory. The title above links to my original tumblr post.

So in my Drawing 2 class, my teacher told us that for this assignment we were to counter the misconception that art has to be beautiful. And he essentially told us to draw the ugliest thing we could possibly imagine. (But I decided to keep in mind ugly =/= bad.)

So this monstrosity happened.

It’s pretty much a cross between Nyan Neko Sugar Girls/disproportionate and/or bad animu art in general, Naruto (it somehow seemed to fit), Nigel Thornberry (don’t get me wrong, Nigel’s absolutely smashing, but that nose and mustache were beyond perfect), and the Mona Lisa (I personally find her rather creepy. Just a tad.) With a touch of GAMER GUUUURL because I find them incredibly obnoxious. I decided to attempt at least some sort of realistic-ish look to make it even more repulsive. Since the assignment was to create something ugly, and “ugly” can mean different things to different people, I decided to go with something so horrendous that it would be near impossible to find any form of beauty in it. Something completely… well, hideous.

The eyes were an exaggeration of some anime styles I’ve seen where the eyes are obnoxiously far apart, and I referenced NNSG when drawing the hands. No matter how hard I tried though, I couldn’t quite achieve that “shoved down a garbage disposal” look. Herp derp.

I have to say, I think creating this abomination destroyed a shit ton of my brain cells. Just looking at it makes my brain melt. So I definitely didn’t just draw this for pure shits and giggles. I should be shot for creating something so horrible. But instead I’m going to release my creation to the internets and subject you all to its copious amounts of hideousness.
